Staff Software Engineer, AI Voice and Content

Gusto is looking for a seasoned full-stack software engineer to join its Growth team in San Francisco, CA. The role involves leading the next generation of AI-powered customer acquisition, onboarding, and lifecycle engagement experiences, including an AI Voice Agent and AI-driven email systems. Team members are expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week.

• 8+ years of software development experience building and shipping customer-facing product experiences at scale
• Experience building full-stack systems including frontend applications, backend APIs, and production services
• Experience in Growth-related product areas such as onboarding, communications, workflow automation, CRM, or lifecycle marketing
• Strong applied AI fluency, including experience with prompt design, tool integration, conversational experiences, or content generation systems
• Experience owning multi-quarter initiatives that solve ambiguous engineering problems and produce measurable business impact
• Travel to Gusto's office for onboarding is required
